Steamworks Brewing Co. started in 1996 in Durango, Colorado, USA, area that many consider the Napa Valley of beer. The correct balance of taste, aroma and appearance of their hand-crafted beers has awarded this once small local brewpub domestic and international recognition as one of the finest craft beers in the world.
Steamworks’ Steam Engine Lager won 4 gold medals, silver and a bronze at the American Beer Festival during 1997 to 2004, and one silver medal at the World Beer Cup in 1998. In 2005, Steamworks Brewing Co. was awarded the Business of the Year award by the Durango Chamber of Commerce.
More recently in 2007, Steamworks’ Colorado Kölsch was also a silver medal winner at the Great American Beer Festival (GABF). In 2008, this Kölsch beer took a silver medal at the Brewers Association World Beer Cup and a bronze medal at the Australian International Beer Awards.
